Back in the saddle

The Milwaukee Panthers will look to rebound and return to the win column as the team also makes a one game return to the Klotsche Center to take on the Montana Grizzles Sunday evening. The Panthers are coming off of back to back losses to DePaul and Wisconsin. This game is being played at the Klotsche because of graduation occurring at Milwaukee Panther Arena.

A key player in this game for the Panthers is Junior Forward Matt Tiby. Despite the Panthers team struggles of late, Tiby has been good in both the DePaul and Wisconsin games. Tiby had eight points and ten rebounds against DePaul and 17 points and five rebounds against Wisconsin. Tiby bring tremendous energy and enthusiasm  and that could be something the Panthers need as they are in the process of taking finals. Exams have a way of making a team appear flat and that is why the energy of Tiby could be critical to the Panther’s success.

The Grizzles come into this game with a record of 3-5 and 1-4 on the road although they have played in several competitive games including losing to Davidson and Cal in close games. The Grizzles are led in scoring by Junior Forward Martin Breunig who is averaging 17.5 points per game so far this season. He is also the team leader in rebounds with 6.8 rebounds per game. Another dangerous offensive weapon for the Grizzles is Senior Guard Jordan Gregory is the team leader in minutes played and is averaging 15.6 points per game. The Grizzles have plenty of scoring depth as they have six players averaging over seven and a half points a game or more. They also have ten players who are averaging a minimum of ten minutes played per game.
There are two keys to this game for the Panthers. One, is energy and focus. Finals are in progress for the Panthers and that can be a mentally drain time for any basketball team across the country. The Panthers need to come out with the physical energy and mental focus that is needed in order to win this game. Secondly, the Panthers need to get out to a fast start on both ends of the floor. A quick start will produce something that is most likely lacking after getting beaten in the last two games and that is confidence. Also the Grizzles have had problems on the road the season so the Panthers do not want to give a reason to think they can hang around in this game. If the Panthers come into this game with good physical and mental focus and are able to get a quick start they should be able to generate enough momentum to get themselves a victory.
