Panthers look to win on road

Milwaukee Panthers (4-2) vs. Tennessee Tech (3-3)
Location: Eblen Center – Cookeville, Tennessee
Time: 7:00 p.m. CST
Broadcast: WISN-AM1130

For the sixth time in only seven games, the Milwaukee Panthers will be playing on the road. This time they will be headed down south to face Tennessee Tech.

The Golden Eagles beat the Panthers last season 69-58 in Milwaukee, and went onto finish the season with an overall record of 12-17.  They have had some roster turnover losing three key players from a season ago, but they have nine new guys coming in.

Tennessee Tech is coming in off of a blowout victory over Indiana-Kokomo winning 92-39. They also knocked of Loyola, who Milwaukee lost to in their first game this season, 74-69. In their six games this season they are averaging 72.3 points per game while shooting 46.9 percent from the field.

One of their main weaknesses has been their free throw shooting, as they are only shooting 62.7 from the charity strip. This could be an advantage for the Panthers if there are a lot of fouls called since they have done a decent job shooting 74.8 from the line.

Junior guard, Ty Allen leads the Golden Eagles offense with 13.2 points per game while shooting a respectable 44.6 from the field. Joining him in the starting lineup will be guards Javon McKay and Jeremia Samarrippas, forward Dennis Ogbe, and center Dwan Caldwell.

The Panthers will counter with their usual lineup featuring guards Steve McWhorter and Jordan Aaron, and forwards Austin Arians, J.J. Panoske and Matt Tiby. Kyle Kelm and Thierno “BoBo” Niang should be the first two players off the bench for Milwaukee.

After losing in their home opener on Tuesday, the Milwaukee Panthers will look to return to their winning ways against Tennessee Tech. While the Panthers will be the favorite going in, they will need to do better on both sides of the ball than they did against DePaul. Rebounding and taking high percentage shots will be keys for the Panthers, and if they can do a great job on both of these things, they will easily return home with a victory.

The Panthers find it challenging to play teams that have a big strong front line. If the Panthers play their game…..they’ll end up with another victory today!!!

Here’s to a big volleyball win today!!
