Four Point Play – Marian

-Marian brought along a fairly large contingent of fans. This is their Super Bowl, as it has been in the past for schools like Parkside and Stritch.

– The Panthers were fantastic offensively, but the team really lacked a strong defense. The team needed to be more assertive than they were. Multiple times Marian guards blew past their defenders.

– The new rules regarding defense were seen for the first time in game action and boy, are they stringent. Jeter said at the tip-off luncheon that the “charge is essentially out of the game,” and he wasn’t lying. Contact on the outside they are a little more lenient, and offensive fouls are still called – both teams had them.

– Trinson White missed the game with a pulled muscle. The word around the post-game party was that White may redshirt; he would actually be a decent candidate, since he hasn’t progressed to the point the coaches would like to see him at. He has the ability to be a defender in the mould of Ryan Allen, but he’s not there yet. We’ll see if he plays a week from today at Loyola.
