Panthers win easily in Kalamazoo

Can anyone stop the Milwaukee Panthers? Right now the Panthers are on a roll, and no one has been able to slow them down. Today the Panthers went into Kalamazoo and dominated Western Michigan winning 2-0, to improve their record to 6-0-1.

The Panthers got on the board in the 12th minute when Rami Younes carried the ball through traffic, and sent a blast from 20-yards out for a goal off the crossbar. The Panthers went on to have a few more chances before halftime, but were unsuccessful at finding the back of the net. Milwaukee’s defense also did an exceptional job, as the Broncos did not have any quality chances with only two shots compared to the Panthers eight.

The second half was the same story. While the Broncos did have a few more opportunities, the Panthers continued to dominate. It did not take long for the Panthers to add to their score. In the 58th minute Laurie Bell scored from 15-yards out on a pass from Younes, started by Isaias Juarez. Both teams went quiet the rest of the game, as neither team could find away to score.

Liam Anderson recorded his fourth shutout of the season. While he did not have to do much today with only one save, he has done a great job for the Panthers so far this season. Milwaukee controlled the possession with 14 shots compared to Western Michigan’s eight. Overall, this was a great win for the Panthers as the played outstanding on both sides of the ball.

Up next the Panthers will travel to Detroit this Saturday to take on the Titans, in their first Horizon League contest. Detroit was picked this preseason to finish fourth in the league, but have struggled so far this season with a 0-3-4 record. While the Titans do not have a great record, do not expect them to give the Panthers the victory. This will be a great game, as both teams try to get off on the right foot in Horizon League play.
