Summer Update – 7.5.11

Over the holiday weekend, the news kept rolling up on Horizon League athletics.  This summer, we’ll be giving periodic updates with my take on the news of the day in short form.

– The Detroit Titans, coming off a fifth-place finish with their current roster, continue to get a bunch of interest across the country in the media.  Detroit’s SID put together a group of news articles showing interest here.

– UIC is helping cut down on the pain of the off-season by giving us interviews with their incoming players, the first of which you can find here.

– Green Bay lost an all-timer at point guard in Rahmon Fletcher, and Bryquis Perine has also graduated. But Brian Wardle isn’t worried. I would be.

– DaShaun Wood has been playing in Germany, and the culture is leaving and impact on him.  The Dayton Daily News has the story here.

– While Butler waits on Rotnei Clarke, Valparaiso isn’t waiting for any transfer. Bobby Capobianco, who transferred from Indiana after his sophomore season, has chosen Valpo for his new school.  The 6’9” big body didn’t do much for lowly Indiana, but perhaps he will be able to use his size better in the Horizon League starting in 2012-13.
